The 90-Day Life Audit

A quarterly review that takes stock of where you are, what's working, what isn't, and what the next 90 days should look like. Used by over 300 coaching clients.

30–45 min

Most people review their lives once a year — usually in January, usually with a vague sense of resolution that fades by February. This template is built on a different rhythm: 90 days. Long enough to see real progress. Short enough to stay honest. The goal is not to plan everything. It is to look clearly at where you are, learn from the last quarter, and set one or two meaningful intentions for the next one.

Before you begin

Block 45 minutes. Do this alone, somewhere quiet, without your phone. Bring something to write with. The questions are designed to be answered in sequence — each section builds on the last. Do not skip the reflection sections; they are where the real value is. If you are doing this for the first time, the first pass will take longer. That is normal.

Part 1 — The Last 90 Days

Before you look forward, look back honestly.

01

What were your top three intentions or goals for the last 90 days?

If you didn't set any, write what you were implicitly trying to achieve.

02

What did you actually accomplish? Be specific and generous — include things that weren't on your original list.

Most people undercount their wins. List everything.

03

What didn't happen that you wanted to happen? What got in the way?

Be honest about whether the obstacle was external or internal.

04

What is the single most important thing you learned about yourself in the last 90 days?

This could be about your habits, your patterns, your relationships, or your work.

Part 2 — Life Areas Check-In

Rate each area of your life on a scale of 1–10, where 1 is deeply unsatisfied and 10 is thriving. Then write one sentence about what is driving that score.

Work & Career

What is the gap between your current score and a 9 or 10?

Health & Energy

What one habit is most affecting this score, positively or negatively?

Relationships

Which relationship most needs your attention right now?

Personal Growth

Are you learning and stretching? What is missing?

Finances

Is your financial situation moving in the direction you want?

Fun & Enjoyment

When did you last do something purely for enjoyment? How long ago?

Part 3 — What Needs to Change

Based on your check-in, identify the areas that most need attention.

05

Which two life areas have the lowest scores? What is one specific thing you could do in the next 90 days to move each score up by two points?

Be concrete. 'Improve my health' is not an action. 'Walk for 30 minutes three times a week' is.

06

What is one thing you have been tolerating — in your work, your environment, or a relationship — that is quietly draining your energy?

Tolerations are often invisible until you name them. Name it.

07

What is one thing you need to stop doing, start doing, and keep doing?

One of each. Not a list — one of each.

Part 4 — The Next 90 Days

Set your intentions for the coming quarter. Keep this section short — depth beats breadth.

08

What is your single most important goal for the next 90 days? The one that, if you achieved it, would make the quarter feel like a success regardless of everything else.

One goal. Not three. One.

09

What are two or three supporting actions that will move you toward this goal each week?

These should be small enough to be non-negotiable. If they require heroic effort, they are too big.

10

What is the most likely thing that will get in the way — and what is your plan for when it does?

Anticipating obstacles is not pessimism. It is preparation.

11

How will you know, in 90 days, that this quarter was a success? What will be different?

Write this in concrete, observable terms.

Closing reflection

Read back through everything you have written. Notice what surprised you. Notice what you already knew but hadn't said out loud. Set a reminder in your calendar for 90 days from today to do this again. The value of this template compounds over time — each quarter you will have the previous quarter's answers to learn from.
